  • Christopher S. Huot M.D.
    Christopher S. Huot M.D.

    Dr. Huot is a board certified ophthalmologist with special interests in the treatment of cataracts, macular degeneration, glaucoma and oculoplastics (disorders of the eyelids).  He offers advanced no-stitch cataract surgery with premium lens implantation to help reduce the need for glasses in his patients.

    He was raised in Rapid City and graduated locally from Stevens High School.  His undergraduate education began at SDSM&T before transferring to the University of Minnesota where he completed his B.S. in Chemical Engineering.  He returned to South Dakota for medical school earning his medical degree at USD.  His training concluded with residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, where he was honored with the position of chief resident.  Following residency, he had a thriving private practice in Colorado for seven years before returning to his hometown of Rapid City in 2015.  With a family name well known in the local medical community for decades, he follows in the footsteps of his father, providing healthcare to the area along with his brother and sister.

    Growing up in the beautiful Black Hills, Dr. Huot developed a love for the outdoors.  He enjoys mountain biking, skiing, camping and hiking with his wife, Lisa, and three children-Samantha, Andrew and Aidan.

  • Renae Welke O.D.
    Renae Welke O.D.

    Dr. Welke received her Doctorate of Optometry in 2011 from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University. She was awarded Clinical and Academic Honors and is a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa honor society. After graduation Dr. Welke completed a Primary Care Residency Program at Salus University. She is currently a member of the American Optometric Association and the South Dakota Optometric Association.

    Dr. Welke’s optometric interests include primary and medical eye care for diabetes, glaucoma, and macular degeneration, contact lenses, vision therapy, ocular disease, and ocular emergencies.

    Dr. Welke and her daughter, Kinsy, are lifelong residents of the area and were excited to return to the Black Hills area.  Dr. Welke provides full scope optometric eye care and is currently accepting new patients of all ages.

  • Taylor Slingsby M.D.
    Taylor Slingsby M.D.

    Dr. Taylor Slingsby is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in vitreoretinal disease and surgery.  He grew up in Rapid City and is a second-generation Rapid City ophthalmologist. He attended the University of Southern California, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and completed his pre-medical education. He completed medical school and an Internal Medicine internship at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine. He completed residency training in Ophthalmology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, followed by a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the Cincinnati Eye Institute and University of Cincinnati.
     
    Dr. Slingsby takes pride in bringing the highest standard of vitreoretinal care to the people of Western South Dakota. He manages surgical and medical retinal diseases including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular disease, epiretinal membranes/macular pucker, macular holes, retinal tears and detachments, posterior uveitis, and complications of cataract surgery or ocular trauma.
