I'm
57 years old and have been wearing glasses as thick as the bottom
of a Coke bottle since I was 5. When I wore contacts, they were
so thick I would fold them in half with my eyelids if I blinked
the wrong way.
So
when you ask me what I like best about the results of my IntraLASIK
surgery the answer is real simple I
can see!
Here's
a few examples: I first noticed this looking out my window at
the neighbor's house. Even with my glasses, I've never been able
to see the grain on the siding of the house 50 feet away. Now
I can! So, while I'm standing there noticing this, I see a fly
land on the side of the house! UNBELIEVABLE!
I've
been fly fishing all my life, but I've never been able to actually
see the fly land on the water before or the fish come and take
the fly. WOW!
Playing
golf is a whole different deal I'm almost having to re-learn
how to do it. The hole looks bigger than it ever did before, so
all my putts were short at first. But you know, my game now is
actually getting better because I can finally see what I'm trying
to do.
And
it's cool to get to wear goggles when I'm riding my motorcycle
instead of just my glasses they were so thick, goggles
wouldn't fit over them.
I
could go on forever, this is just so terrific. I can read the
words on the TV screen. I can see!
Oh,
one more thing... I knew Dr. Paul Wright when we were both in
high school and I've always had the greatest respect for him.
You could tell what a great person he was going to be way back
when. He's someone I literally trusted my eyes to, and he really
came through for me.
I'm
one of those people who has wanted to do this for years, but my
corneas were too thin for the traditional "sharp blade"
LASIK. So IntraLASIK is a big miracle for me. I'm not sorry at
all that I did it... not one little bit!
I
can see the wrinkles in the curtain across the room I can
see the patterns in glass. I can read a clock in a hallway at
75 feet. I can see! I can see!

First,
I want to say that I'm not the kind of person who endorses things
just for the heck of it. In fact, I've never done this type of
thing before. But I just want everybody to know how liberating
this decision has been for me! It's so wonderful not to be handicapped
with glasses or contacts, and it was such an easy, safe and painless
experience, I just thought, if I can help even one person make
the decision to do this and to feel as great as I do now, it's
so worth doing!
Before
my IntraLASIK correction, I was so nearsighted and astigmatic,
my eye doctor said I was basically "legally blind".
Plus, because of my age, I needed reading glasses even if I wore
contacts.
I've
been wanting to have LASIK surgery for years, but my eye doctor
always suggested I should wait because the technology was getting
better, safer and more precise.
Because
of my lifestyle, I've never liked wearing glasses. They're such
a hassle. They slip down my nose, hurt my ears and just get in
my way. What I needed was bifocal contacts but my eyes were so
bad I couldn't be fitted for them.
Then
one day my eye doctor told me, "you know, there's a new kind
of LASIK vision correction that's safe enough that I feel comfortable
recommending it." With my husband's encouragement, I decided
to do it and WOW! In a matter
of minutes, my eyes were fixed! There was no pain whatsoever,
and the people at Slingsby & Wright were so great the way
they helped me relax and made me feel safe.
I
just can't tell you how amazing it is to get up in the morning
or the middle of the night and just be able to see! It's something
you can't really explain but once you experience it, you
realize how handicapped you were before!
So
if anyone wants to talk to me about Dr. Wright or IntraLASIK,
that's just fine! Here's my email address: debbie.wallace@state.sd.us

My
sister is the one who really got me started on this LASIK idea.
She had it done before there was such a thing as IntraLASIK and
was really happy about it. I started checking into it and was
a little concerned who should I have do it... what's the
best kind of equipment... and all that. I was kind of shopping
around when I heard an ad on the radio about Dr. Wright and IntraLASIK.
No sharp blade, safer and more precise, and how Dr. Wright is
the only one in the area who can do it.
So
I just went right in and got a free evaluation. I didn't do the
seminar thing because I already knew a lot about LASIK from my
sister.
The
people at Slingsby & Wright were just so welcoming and made
me feel so comfortable. They were so friendly and open... it was
almost like they
were having the surgery and wanted everything to be perfect....
the way they would want it for themselves. They let me ask all
my "dumb" questions (they told me that when it comes
to your eyes there are no dumb
questions) and in a very calm, pleasant way,
told me all about what to expect.
When
I went in for the procedure, it was the same way. They just sat
right there with me, visiting, until it was time to do it. Even
when it was happening it was still more like sitting there talking
to a friend than like having surgery. It was so quick and easy
I couldn't believe it, and it's so unreal not to have to wear
glasses anymore!
